Shanghai GuZhong Park 上海南汇古钟园

Seeing that the weather was predicted to be not so good and potential rain, we went to visit this park called GuZhong Park 古钟园. It is located at the Shanghai Nanhui District HuiNan Town built between 1982 to 1985. No entrance fee is required for visitors to this park. This is the last of the 4 parks in Shanghai that starts with the word "古" that we visited. We have been to at last all 4 of them, 古华园, 古藤园, 古豫园, and this one 古钟园.

Main entrance of the park
Some history of the park

This park is situated at address 惠南镇卫星西路11号. It is about 40 mins from our apartment in Pudong. One can take A1 highway to the airport and then exit at 南六公路-〉人民西路-〉城基路-〉卫星西路。

Found a kind of old door that is locked. The door is indeed old and not well maintained as you could see in the photos above. Not sure what history it has for this door. No description was given.

Upon entry after the main entrance, there is a pavilion in the middle of the lake. The pavilion is accessible by a zig-zag bridge platforms.

Pavilion on the lake

Over the lake there are few bridges linking it. People can be seen boating in the lake. In fact the lake surrounded this park and one can row the boat from one section to another through a canal or bridges.

We took some photos in the pavilion while enjoying the scenery and environment. The rain just stopped before we arrived so the air was extremely fresh and chilly.

Sign above caution visitors to watch the gold fishes at the same time be careful about safety from not falling into the lake. There is also a rock formation that allows one to cross through rock tunnel to the other side. On top of the rock formation, the roof is planted with lot of vines trees.

This park is famous for its Ming Dynasty Giant Bell weighing 1.6 tons. Thus the name Old Bell.

Pathway leading to the bell

This bell in the middle of the park is the central attraction. It is placed in a pavilion named 钟亭.

After this bell, we visited various places within the park. Feeling was quite good at the air was fresh after the rain. The temperature is cooler right now due to autumn and no mosquitos in sight to spoil our day.

Went into one of the pavilion called 瑞春亭 as seen below. There were some rock incription on the inner wall of the pavilion.

More sceneries within the park.

Came upon a place called 含涓细流. We thought that it might be a manmade waterfall or somekind. However, too bad it is no longer functional.

Stone table in front of lake for people to enjoy tea drinking and at the same time view the lake.

One of the good point of this park is that it has lots of greenery. Gives one the feeling of peace and tranquility as you wander around the park.

There is an amusement park within GuZhong Park. Parents brought their kids here for the ride on train track, merry 'go' round, Go cart, etc.

We felt that this park has quite a good atmosphere. Good for family to come here for boating, picnic, etc. Also it is not known to most of the tourist and only frequented I guess by local people staying in this area. This is best as it would not be so crowded even in the weekends.
