Shanghai National Culture Village 上海民族文化村

The Shanghai National Culture Village 上海民族文化村 is just across the road from Da Guan Garden. Since we have bought the combine ticket, it only cost us RMB10 per person to enter this place. Buying non-combine ticket would cost RMB30 per person, definitely not worth it. Which I will explain later.

First place we came to after entering was the village of some minority tribes. There were wooden carving of statues places on the grounds like the ones shown below.

We found some kind of stone globe shape thing with tribe inscription. Do not really understand the meaning though.

More wooden statues carved in variety of forms. It is quite a unique work of handicraft.

After the statues is the entrance to the tribe's village whereby there are some wooden house with long wooden stilt base. Seems the indication on the village signage says that it is the tribe called "哈伲族".

We went inside to explore every wooden houses. Here, there were displays of how the tribe lives and what kind of tribe. For example the cloth woven for the tribe to make their colorful clothing. Pots and utilities in their kitchen.

Moving along, there is one place that we passed through the offers pony ride. Since not many tourists actually visited this place, business was not good and the place is deserted. We could only see a lonely lady hanging around there waiting for business.

The land area and space in this village is quite wide. However, they are all left vacant as empty space. Our first impression was that the space here is not well utilized. We came to a large white color building which is shaped like the temple in Burma. Not sure what this structure is though.

There are small Buddha statues in every semi-circle opening on the wall and pillar of this structure. Bells adorned the sharp peak roof structure of this building.

The building below is nearby the white building structure. It is some sort of house that you find in Burma. The place is locked so we did not manage to enter it.

Next we came to the Miao village. There is a totem pole carving which signifies the Miao village.

Coming up next after a long walk was the house of the Bai Tribe 白族. The house is heavily adorned with drawings of poetry on the ceiling and wooden beams.

The whole house is practically painted in red color. Of course, due to not much maintenance as you can see in the photos, the paint had faded and peeled.

One corner of this culture village is near the river or lake. We came to a dock whereby there is a local yacht and canoe club. Beside the club there is a children playground with kid castle. Ethan liked to play here for quite some time.

There are a few bridges of various design linking both side of the river that flows through this village ground.

We wandered and explored quite a secluded portion of this culture village ground. There was the bamboo bushes, a jetty where local blocked out the water to form a fish nursery, etc. Various other scenes of this place can be found in the photos following.

Actually we were quite disappointed with this place as it is not well maintained and lots of stuffs already torn down. Also there were not many people who visited this place. I guess the main attraction is mainly Da Guan Garden, this place is sort of a side kick.
